A colleague from Surfers Healing help pioneer the initial effort of donating surfboards to both Israel and Palestinian surfers.

I don’t think anyone is under the illusion that this will solve anything. However, on an extremely local level, great things have been accomplished.

I’m really looking forward to seeing this. More info on the official website

Born To Run

Monday, September 28th, 2009

A cheetah can run 70 mph and cover 30 feet in a 1/4 second. It’s ears retract behind the head for high speed aerodynamics. Non retracting claws grip the turf and the tail acts as a rudder,  enabling it to make seemingly impossible changes of direction at high speed.

I’d love to watch these in full 1080 resolution.

Viewed in slow motion, watching a cheetah run, I’m moved by the power of life.

I didn’t think a TV show theme song could be covered so well.

The Drama of Oxygen

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

I’m in awe of how entertaining this message/lesson is and how it would resonate with almost any audience.

The ability to evoke emotion through communication be it teaching, storytelling, music, art, cooking, sports, photography, marketing, (really, this list could be far longer and is too sacred to be appended with an etc.) is endlessly fascinating for me.

Within the framework of expressing the interaction of oxygen molecules, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it done better.

The IT Crowd-

Friday, May 15th, 2009

This series currently on the IFC is really funny. Its set in the IT department of British company. The main characters are 2 super geeks, Moss and Roy. Their supervisor Jen is clueless regarding computers. (Its unclear to me how she came to this position)

They tried to make a US version but apparently it flopped.

Thats ok. The British version is really funny and I look forward to each episode.

Kalahari Bushmen

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

The Kalahari Bushmen are one of the last primitive tribes to hunt by running their prey down. Sometimes called a “Persistence Hunt” they run after animals similar to antelope. It’s a test of strength and will that they exhaust the animal before they themselves drop. These hunts often last 8 hours or more and take place in temperatures that exceed 110 degrees F.

Octopus Animation

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

This is a short video (2.26) animation of an octopus adventure. Really clever and well done. Pixar like quality. I hope they make a full feature from it. Unfortunately the higher quality version at vimeo was removed. This link is from YouTube. Hopefully it will stay up.
